A PowerPoint slide show is also available for this session. Enterprise authentication, authorization, and federated trust are increasingly important in enabling access to a wide swath of applications that use campus-based credentials. Their use makes access easier and more secure. A review of the successful METEOR federation and the EA2 Task Force work offer insight on how to move forward. This session features:

Results of the World's Best Presentation Contest 2008 - SlideShare Here are the results of the 2008 best slideshare slideshow contest. E07 Podcast: Defining the Digital CommonsCreated by Gerry Bayne (EDUCAUSE) on September 02, 2008
On this podcast we feature a session from the 2007 EDUCAUSE Annual Conference. The session, Defining the Digital Commons: Abstraction of Enterprise Services and Policies Through the Use of a Unified Web-Based User Interface, discusses a methodology for abstracting enterprise services and the policies that dictate them through the use of a Web-based user interface. This establishes a unified tool for publication, storage, and recovery of files that streamlines training and support costs, facilitates innovation, and promotes the continued evolution of enterprise-level solutions. You can also view the slides for this presentation. The panel includes: 50 virtual worldsCreated by Jeremy Hunsinger (Virginia Tech) on September 02, 2008

Academia.eduCreated by Jeremy Hunsinger (Virginia Tech) on September 02, 2008
academia.edu is a new social networking site for academics. It is based out of oxford u and attempts to develop a directory and archival structure of materials. It has an interesting tree-interface. I'm not sure how far it will take off, but i've sent it to a few lists and colleagues in a wide variety of fields have signed up. Create your own social network, quickly and easily. Elgg allows you to take full advantage of the power of social technology with elegant, flexible solutions for organisations, groups and individuals.[From Elgg.org] ------- This is great news. Andrews (Creighton University) on August 30, 2008
I've decided to start blogging here again. I'll be honest, I'm a little vain; I like to see what I've written get wide exposure. Hopefully I'll write something worth a wider audience than I have on my current work blog. I used Creighton's local instance of WordPress to keep notes on creating a Fedora Commons 3.0 test server. I will keep those notes here, and write about some other projects, too. In simple, here are my professional growth projects from now (August 30 2008) to the end of the calendar year (December 31 2008): 1. Get a copy of Fedora Commons 3.0 and the Fez front-end working. 2. Attempt to move content from EMC's Documentum (ApplicationXtender 5.4 to be specific) to Fedora Commons 3.0. 3. See what makes better sense: - Using an enterprise search tool like the Google Enterprise Search Appliance for federated search, too. - Using a federated search tool like DeepWeb for enterprise search, too. Web 2.0 and the perilous seas of content accessCreated by Catherine Howell (University of Cambridge) on August 29, 2008
It's just a small story to remind us that web 2.0 is not always as "accessible" as we think. For educators, perhaps it's a yet another reason to prefer open content. And it reminds us that commercial constraints and IP issues continue to prevent the web from being as "global" a resource as the educational community would like. This is how I received the error message: browsing Jason Kottke's popular website kottke.org (now described as "a weblog about the liberal arts 2.0") , I noticed that, in a post about the film Koyaanisqatsi, Jason had linked to the popular video site hulu.com. But I couldn't actually see the video content - all I got was the above message. Ubiquity for Firefox - Pretty Awesome!Created by Robert H. McDonald (Indiana University) on August 28, 2008
